MID-DAY ENGAGEMENT SESSION – DESIREE & JACOB

Golden hour is perhaps the most popular light for sessions, but there are other times of day that provide stunning light for your session.

Many people think that golden hour is the best light for your photo session. Photographers often refer to it as the “magic hour” because the soft light brings a warmth and highlights emotions in a beautiful way. Golden hour is stunning, truly! But this does not mean that it is the only time to take photos.

I’ve loved getting the chance to photograph sessions in a diverse range of light – from mid day, to golden hour, to blue hour, to twilight. Each of these lighting situations can drastically alter the look and the mood of your photos.

Mid-day photo sessions can be seen as challenging or undesirable due the harsh lighting and shadows. This lighting is not as forgiving as those soft golden hour tones, but it is still stunning nonetheless. Mid-day sessions to me have a creativity and a sun-kissed feeling that is so refreshing. When I think on how we spend our days, we do not often wake up at the crack of dawn and the evening light is so fleeting. The mid-day light reminds me of summers and weekends spent outdoors, soaking in everything at its brightest and boldest.

If you’re still not sure that mid-day light should not be dismissed, take a look at Jacob and Desiree’s beautiful engagement session!
