TO DIY OR TO NOT DIY, that is the question.
One of my favorite parts of the wedding is the florals, and florists are one of my favorite vendors. I’ve seen lately many more brides choosing the DIY route for their flowers, so I thought I’d share some of the pros and cons for using a florist versus doing it yourself!
FLORIST
– expertise + creativity – they are trained professionals!
– customization – of flower selection, colors, and even sometimes budget
– access to wide range of flowers
– stress reduction – this is a huge plus in my book
– high quality flowers that will last the whole day
– logistics and delivery – they source, arrange, deliver, and even set up
– floral preservation – if your florist doesn’t offer it themselves, they can advise you on the best ways to do it
– time efficiency – allows you to spend time on other important tasks of wedding planning
DIY
– cost savings – this one speaks for itself
– personal touch and creative control – the arrangements are completely by you!
– flexibility – you can alter/adjust the arrangements if you need to in terms of design or if you need more/less
– a fun learning experience
– bonding experience with friends or family
– sustainability by sourcing locally grown, seasonal flowers
There is not a right or a wrong when it comes to your flowers! Like most other wedding decisions, it is about what is important for you on your day, what you want.
